As a science brand, we are best known for our distinctive animated videos and our elaborate products around the kurzgesagt theme worlds. Through our globally successful YouTube channel with over 22 million subscribers, we aim to inspire people around the world about science and make knowledge accessible and exciting. Our editorial team is looking for a competent and highly experienced Scriptwriter & Storyteller (m/f/d) for presenting our scientific content on YouTube. How you make an impact - in a nutshell
- Identify crazy, interesting and surprising aspects in new topics and suggest topic ideas
- Write scripts as a basis for YT videos (and potentially TT/YT Shorts)
- Give feedback and help to develop other writers scripts
- Research, document and prepare content and sources for video scripts
- Contact scientists and handle and incorporate expert feedback
- Close contact and exchange with the rest of the editorial team and our founder & head writer
- Adherence to the quality standards for our content creation
- Uphold the standards in storytelling and topic selection that kurzgesagt is renowned for
- Actively push and improve the storytelling of our videos Ultimately, you are a source of ideas for our YouTube and TikTok channel and a voice that represents the values and mission of kurzgesagt to the outside world
What you are best known for
- Impressive track record as a scriptwriter (we’re not specifying a certain number of years, but are looking for experienced writers in contrast to entry level profiles)
- Desirable/also relevant: additional experience in writing and researching for video, podcasts, blogs or other media outlets with a strong focus on storytelling
- strong intuition for interesting ideas, topics and crisp facts
- Ability to quickly and thoroughly familiarize yourself with a wide variety of topics
- Diligence and precision when it comes to interpreting and checking facts
- Ability to write in a concise, engaging and understandable language and adopt our tonality even under time constraints
- Experienced in using research tools and English primary sources
- Enthusiasm for discussion and willingness to think through crazy ideas; you do not settle for the first best answer
- good sense of humor
- optimistic and human-centric outlook on science, technology and the future of humanity
- Fluent English skills, both written and spoken (German is not a must, but would be of advantage)
